Duffy's Sports Grill
More than twenty remodels, conversions and build-outs for Duffy's across Florida between 2014 and 2018.
The program
Duffy's Sports Grill has returned to R Builders as general contractor through several rounds of growth, from their home base in Palm Beach County up the Treasure Coast, across to the Gulf and north into the Orlando and Tampa markets. The work ranged from converting other restaurants into Duffy's, to major remodels of existing locations, to build-outs in empty shell space.
2014 — four remodels and conversions
A major remodel at Village Boulevard, plus three conversions from other restaurant spaces: Lake Mary, Weston and Estero. At Weston Town Center we took over the former East City Grill, working with the city on site plan amendments, permits and variances, remodelling the interior and adding an enclosed seating area with a waterfront view; it opened in late March 2014. In Estero, Duffy's took the old Stoney's Sports Bar Lounge beside the Stoneybrook Golf Course — we permitted through Lee County and ran roughly twelve weeks of floor restoration, interior redesign and wall repair. The Lake Mary location in Colonial Town Park replaced the former Blue Elephant, with patio modifications for outdoor dining, new seating booths, air conditioning and walk-in cooler work and a kitchen floor rehab, permitted through the Seminole County Building Department.
2015 — seven projects
A test kitchen at Lake Worth, built out in shell space so the chain could develop and test menus and kitchen strategy. Full remodels and conversions followed at Deerfield Beach, Altamonte Springs, Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Waterford Lakes, along with a complete remodel of the existing Delray Beach location.
2016 and 2017 — continued expansion
A full remodel at Jupiter East and a conversion in Tampa in 2016. The following year brought major remodels at Boynton East, Boynton West, Stuart South and Greenacres, and a conversion at Boca West.
2018 — four projects
A major remodel of the existing Plantation location, a new commercial build-out in shell space at St. Lucie East, and remodels at Coconut Creek and Jupiter West.
Corporate offices, Lake Worth
Alongside the restaurants, R Builders renovated another wing of Duffy's corporate offices at 303 North 10th Ave in Lake Worth, removing the existing build-outs and introducing new glass walls and laminate flooring to match the existing office style, with drop ceilings and trim work.
